Bethel's Mission Team leader, Elizabeth Fields, shares some thoughts and pictures from here recent trip to the Muchelenje Development Project in Zambia, Africa:
Five members of the team left for Zambia on May 11, 2010 and arrived in Lusaka on May 13. After securing the four barrels of school and baby supplies, we drove to the Village of Kalenje and began our mission work there. We were warmly greeted by the men, women and children of the village. I was asked to assist Pastor Levy, from Lusaka, in sharing the Sunday morning message to the people of Kalenje, a message of peace, hope, brotherhood and love. Rex, of the village served as an interpreter from English to Bimba, their native language.
Members of Bethel's children's choirs ("J"-Crew, Kings Kids and YM2) recently traveled to Waynesboro, PA to perform their spring musical, "Let's Rock," for the members of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. Through music and drama the children shared the message of how we must work together as the Body of Christ to help our friends and neighbors in need. The kids put their faith into action by doing various mission projects for the community as well. They washed windows, did yardwork, painted, made applesauce for the city's homeless shelter, and worked at the local Thrift Shop. But the trip wasn't all work! They enjoyed various outdoor activities as well as a trip to Hershey Park before heading home to Lewes. Many thanks to our Choir Sponsors whose donations helped make this trip possible!
The members of Bethel would like to thank the The Reminders for leading us in worship.
Nine young adult members from Bethel spent a week in June working and witnessing in the Bahamas.
Youth and adults from Bethel headed to Newark, NY in July to serve and share. Members particpated in a variety of service projects as well as spending time woshiping and relaxing.
