Small Groups

We learn and grow best in community.  When people gather in groups with a shared mission to pursue God, to love one another, and to serve others, God can do amazing things.  In a small group, you'll share life with others and explore spiritual truths.  Groups come in all shapes and sizes...married couples, singles, men, women, kids, no kids, workplace, college, empty-nesters...the list goes on and on.  No matter where you are in life, there's a group for you!  So take a moment to browse this sampling of the groups available at Bethel, and if you have an idea for a group you'd like to start, feel free to share it with our Pastor.

  • Financial peace university

We all need a plan for our money.  Financial Peace University (created by Dave Ramsey) is the plan!  It teaches God's ways of handling money and presents biblical, practical steps to show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more!  For information about the next session hosted at Bethel, please contact Burt Murray.

  • Ginny Beel Prayer Shawl Ministry

This group of dedicated crafters meets each week to knit and crochet prayer shawls to give to the sick, bereaved, broken, and lonely.  As they knit, the group members pray for whomever it is that might be receiving the shawls.  If you'd like more information about this group, please contact the church office at 645-9426 or email HERE

  • GriefShare

Griefshare is a 14-week journey through grief. Grief is a process, and GriefShare offers the tools to guide you through this difficult time and a place where you can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one.

This group of men, young and young-at-heart, meet on the third Sunday morning of each month for a hearty breakfast, fellowship, and focus.  Each month's meeting features a different guest speaker.  Meetings begin at 7:00 a.m. at the Ocean Grill (5 Points, Lewes).  For information, please contact the church office.

  • Band of Brothers

Who are the "Band of Brothers?"  We are men of Bethel who put our faith into action by doing odd jobs for seniors and others.  We meet each first Saturday for breakfast (8:00 a.m.) followed by a short devotion.  Then we head out into the community to be the hands and feet of Jesus.  All men are welcome!  If you are interested in joining the group or have a job for us to do, please contact Phil Fields.

  • women's circle groups

Through Christian fellowship, devotional time, service, and prayer, our women's circles strive to grow closer to each other as they grow closer to God.  The Mary-Martha Circle meets for lunch at noon on the first Wednesday of each month at various local Restaurants, while the Elizabeth Circle meets at noon on each first Tuesday.  Questions?  Contact the church office.

  • Women's Ministry

The Women's Ministry group seeks to provide opportunities for Bethel's women to build relationships and support one another in our faith journey.

Bethel UMC's Women's Ministry mission is to build a strong community of women, whose purpose is to know God and disciple in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit's guidance.  As strong women of faith, we will participate in the local needs of women and children and extend our help and finances toward church needs and other community interests.

We welcome women in the church to join us at the Parsonage Meeting House on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30.  If you would like to join us or would like to learn more, please contact Amy Chason at 240-210-2349 or click HERE to send an email.
